W.A.M.Y. 2020 Summer Camp Project: "Grow Your Own Food"

GrowWatauga.org worked together with W.A.M.Y. and their summer college interns to create  "Grow Bags" for at-risk children and families in our area.  The interns filled the Grow Bags with starts of  lettuce, kale, nasturtiums and chives to create hanging "edible gardens."

Children were given the Grow Bags to take home, care for, grow, and eventually harvest.  Our hope was to instill the children with a love of nature, an understanding of gardening, and a desire to continue growing fresh, nutritious food for themselves and their family.

A huge thank you to these interns for their hard work and compassion.  Next project: teaching kids to grow potatoes in pots!
