In 2024 Grow Watauga partnered with Watauga Extension to help offer the Watauga Winter Cooking Series on a sliding pay scale so that more community members could have access to the event. Margie Mansure did a great job offering hands-on cooking classes designed for beginners or advanced cooks looking for quick, delicious and healthy ideas!

This Thanksgiving season, Grow Watauga partnered with the High Country Food Hub and the Local Food as Medicine (LocalFAM) to help our neighbors put local goodness on the menu for more than 125 families in Watauga County! Over $6500 in donations were collected from Food Hub customers, - matched by Grow Watauga! Funds were used to purchase fresh produce grown by local farmers, as well as turkeys and stuffing from our friends at Publix. Thanksgiving meal kits and hot meals are distributed by our community food access partners, Casting Bread and Blowing Rock Cares. Grow Watauga is grateful for the opportunity to partner with local organizations to serve even more families this holiday season!

The Watauga Food Council kicked off their skill-share program with a Community Cooking Workshop. Participants swapped recipes and voted on five dinner meals to prepare. Then they worked together at the F.A.R.M. Cafe restaurant to cook the meals they selected. All participants left with five family meals to serve the following week or to freeze for later use!
