WAMY Community Garden Donates 690 Lbs. to Local Food Banks

Updated: Nov 19, 2021

The WAMY Avery Garden “grew” by leaps and bounds this year ! They were able to meet their goal of adding 10 additional raised beds, which doubled their growing capacity.

This season, they donated 690 lbs of fresh fresh vegetables to our clients and local food banks. Garden donations included kale, chard, green beans, tomatoes, squash, peas, radishes, garlic, lettuce, peppers and much more. In some cases, they even included recipes with the food so that food bank clients would have an idea for how to cook the food.

Grow Watauga is pleased to support this important program through our small grants program. We can't wait to see what they do next!
